VOLUNTEER

Volunteer help is needed on specific days before the Walkathon & 5K as well as event day!

Specific volunteer positions are needed. Please fill out the form below and hit the submit button. Check any positions in which you are willing to work. We will do our best to place you in your preferred position.

Volunteer training will be conducted the day of the activity or at the event.  Information on parking for volunteers will be distributed at a later date. All volunteers will receive a cotton event t-shirt. 

For those of you who have helped the MDHA in the past, we hope you will assist us again! Please spread the word that volunteer assistance is needed!

Eight weeks prior to the event

WalkAThon & 5K brochure distribution - Help distribute brochures during local events (available eight weeks before the event on Saturday and Sunday mornings)

Tuesday, November 2, 10 AM-5 PM

Location to be determined.

Sponsor Goodie Bag Compilation – Assist in compiling and inserting promotional items into participant bags. Need 25 volunteers.

Tuesday, November 9th – Thursday, November 11th 10:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. (Peak times 11:30 to 1:30 and 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.)

Packet Pick-up and Registration – Assist with registering runners and handing out run packets to those who have pre-registered. ­ Mark which store and time you are available below:

Event Day - Saturday, November 13th

Site Set Up and Parking (5:30 a.m. – 6:30 a.m.) Need 10-12 volunteers
Volunteers will assist in the setup preparations for the 5K Run and monitor the staff/volunteer parking lot.

Course Coning (5:30 a.m. and following last runner/walker) Need 4 volunteers
Volunteers will place traffic cones throughout the route and pick up cones after last runner/walker passes last cone. Volunteers must be strong and healthy; able to lift and place traffic cones along route.

Packet Pick-up and T-shirts (6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.) Need 10 volunteers
Volunteers will distribute race packets to all registered runners and assist with day of event registration.

Direction Monitors (6:00 a.m. – last runner/walker passes) Need 30 volunteers
Volunteers will be placed at strategic points throughout the route to assure that runners/walkers remain on the correct course and cheer them along!

Refreshments (6:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.) Need 25 volunteers
Volunteers will assist in the distribution of refreshments (at Run site and one water station on the route).

Stagehands (7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.) Need 10 volunteers
Volunteers will assist stage events and entertainers.

Hospitality (7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.) Need 15 volunteers
Volunteers will greet walk and 5K run attendees; help pass out fun items such as beads and balloons. Assist in VIP tent and hand out water and snacks to sponsors.

Site Clean-up (8:30 to 1:00 p.m.) Need 24 volunteers
Volunteers will assist in clean up of the event site.
